Obscura Storm
In 2020, we were successful in our artwork proposition for the new Ocean Liner Silver Moon, part of the ultra-luxurious Silversea fleet. These artworks for the Kaiseki Japanese restaurant take inspiration from the mastery of Japanese metal workers and the artisans involved in making armour in sixteenth-century Europe.

Obscura Strom.
Detail illustrating the surface patination created by applying an aqueous solution of copper sulphate to the gilded surface resulting in a chemical reaction creating ethereal shadows. A solution solution of ferrous oxide is brushed upon the surface of encircled scrambled motifs developing as primitive darks upon the surface. The finished canvas is sealed with layers of UV varnish for protection.

Patination experimentation
To achieve the perfect patination combinations upon the artworks, we carried out numerous experiments with different percentage dilutions of patinating fluids.

Obscura Storm
Inspired by the idea of a cloth of gold we beat gold leaf with a bristle brush into the primed impasto surface of the sectional discs.

Artworks in progress.
Following the curvature of the canvas, each piece of Gold leaf is cut to size before being beaten into the canvas with a bristle hair brush.
